Hey Everyone! I know.. it has been a week full of blog posts.. That must mean vacation is over and wedding season pt. 2 is beginning! Yayyyy! Warning. I’m feeling chatty this a.m. and am done with my editing for the week, so this might be long… :/
Things we LOVE: The beach, intimate weddings, beautiful light, beautiful people, mimosas and doughnuts as reception food.
Things we don’t so much love : 5:30am , not meeting the client until the day of, and the bottom of my pants getting wet and sandy. yuck… All so very worth it for some of my favorite photos in a while.
Ok, see photographing a wedding is funny in that most weddings all have things in common and yet they can be SO completely different. Sometimes, we can tell the whole story in two hours and sometimes eight hours just isn’t enough. It’s all about the bride and groom’s priorities. What is important to them and if they know what they are getting in the amount of time we spend with them. We try to get everything we need to be creative and still love our jobs without getting on the bride and groom’s nerves. Sometimes it’s hard, because you KNOW you could shoot the person all day long.
Anyway, on to Amanda and Tyler… when she told us she was having a SUNRISE ceremony on the beach , we were elated. We have had great success with all of the morning shoots we have done this year. I chalk it up to the light and the delirium that washes over us after lack of sleep… not really sure how that happens. So Cristina and I went down to St. George Island, grabbed some yummy pizza at BJ’s, swam in the ocean until Cristina got “stung” by “something”, and then went to sleep early while watching a teen show on the family channel.
I woke up at 5:30am, surprisingly bushy-tailed (I’m not always bushy tailed). I went and put our lenses in the car and cracked the windows so they could get acclimated to the beach temperature and humidity. I’m glad we did that, because it very literally took the whole hour for them to defog. So at about 6:30am, we headed to SGI park, where the bride drove up in a van and told us to follow her. I knew this was going to be awesome, because I felt like I was part of the mafia. It wasn’t even light out yet and I was caravanning with strangers. We got to the location. Turns out, they weren’t very mafia-like after all. We made our introductions, and everyone was very friendly. Then we headed out to the beach. I was making friends with the ring bearer girl when C whisper-shouted (That’s really a thing with her) “Molly! They’re starting!!…PSSSTTT! MOLLY!!! ” But…it was still really dark, so I didn’t believe her.
Turns out they were actually starting.. So we cranked up the iso and shot for the first half of the ceremony at 1000 or 1600. I try not to do that, because I don’t love iso grain on color photos…but I wanted to see their pretty faces, and the families were having the best reactions. Anyway, it’s crazy how different a sunrise can be within 30 minutes it was insane bright.
Ok, I’m done now.. I had a really hard time choosing the photos for the wedding because I liked all of them so much . .. Really..now I’m done.
Yeah they kissed twice! (That’s how much they like each other!)
Then, the sun started to come up. It was sweet to watch their family watch the sunrise and take photos and really ENJOY being together! It was soo…not stressful.
Then, they did a mimosa toast and enjoyed doughnuts!
Then, we got to spend quite a bit of time with these two.. which made me happy .. OH .. My favorite photo that Cristina has ever taken is in this blog…can you spot which one it is??
(Disclaimer: There is no prize)

Brilliant. And so romantic.
so many thoughts about this wedding…. 1. how do i find a client that dreams of having a sunrise wedding on the beach with only their immediate family? 2. why didn’t i think of that for my own wedding? 3. this rocks my face off. 4. okay, so there is no 4….. 🙂
